British Council in the Philippines
British Council’s work supporting the creative economy means building a more sustainable, diverse future driven by ideas, talent, and culture.
I’ve had the chance to lead major creative economy initiatives, strengthening ties between the UK and the Philippines through programs supporting peace, prosperity, and cultural exchange—boosting economic growth, creating jobs, and improving communities.
Some of my projects
Creative hubs for good
This was a three-year creative economy program with the Department of Trade & Industry and the Design Center of the Philippines. I organized a hubs fellowship, international study tour, skills-building and networking events, and conferences.
Craft sustainbility
Crafting Futures was a global program supporting the future of craft around the world. We developed the Woven Networks program to initiate collaborative research and development of the weaving sector in the Philippines.
Connections through culture
A grants program supporting artists, cultural professionals, and creative organizations in the UK and Southeast Asia. Launched in 2019, it aims to foster international exchanges and collaborations.

Cultural road trip
During my first year as an arts manager, I had the opportunity to join a cohort of global arts managers for the British Council’s orientation and professional development program called IN19. We embarked on a road trip of the UK, visiting colleagues and partners in Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff, and London. It was exciting to be in the UK and encounter such amazing arts organizations, but the best part really was spending time with other passionate cultural leaders from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
